Dear fellow members of IIM Bhubaneswar Chapter,
 

I have a great pleasure in greeting all the fellow and student members of the Indian Institute of Metals (IIM), Bhubaneswar Chapter. It is indeed an honour for me. The Bhubaneswar chapter of IIM is one of the oldest chapters in the state of Odisha. Prof. PK Jena, the then Director of Regional Research Laboratory now known CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar, has established this Chapter. This Chapter is supported by the members from CSIR-IMMT, NALCO, IMFA, IIT Bhubaneswar, ICT Bhubaneswar, and KIIT. This chapter is located in the CSIR-IMMT Campus. Some of our members are council members of IIM.

  

Every year we conduct “IIM Bhubaneswar Chapter Quiz” wherein more than 40 schools from in and around Bhubaneswar participate and two winner teams are sponsored to participate in the All India competition titled “Prof. Brahm Prakash Memorial National Level Material Quiz” conducted by IIM at Kalpakkam. Once, our chapter bagged the quiz award. We are also organising every year several seminars, symposia, workshops and technical lectures. During 2001, we organised NMD/ATM and provided surplus to the head quarter. We are proud to say that many of our chapter members bagged NMD and IIM awards. We also got several times best chapter awards. Our Chapter also introduced IIM Bhubaneswar Chapter award in the area of Metallurgy and Material Science. There are two sponsorship awards, Dr. RP Das in the area of Hydro metallurgy and Dr. SK Tamotia in the area of light metals. Every year of esteemed members are receiving these awards during the Annual General Body Meeting of the Chapter.

 

Thus, at this context, I take an opportunity to thank all our previous Chairmen, EC members, office bearers and our esteemed members for their contributions and steering the chapter to this enviable position.

  

I also sincerely thank all of you for giving me the opportunity to serve the Metallurgical fraternity of this region as the Chairman of IIM Bhubaneswar Chapter. I request all the members to participate in enriching this website.
