AGBM 2024

The Annual General Body Meeting (AGBM-2024) of IIM Bhubaneswar Chapter was held on 20th May 2024 at CSIR-IMMT Bhubaneswar. The chief guest Dr. Sadashiv Samantray, Director (commercial), NALCO delivered an address on the topic "Aluminium- The metal of 21st century". The guest of honor Prof. K.G. Prasanth, Tallinn University of Technology had delivered a technical talk on "Advances in additive manufacturing". The guest of honor Dr. Ramanuj Narayan, Director, CSIR-IMMT gave suggestions to improve the chapter performance. On this occasion, Dr. Pravat Kumar Sahoo, Prof. B.C. Mohanty, Dr. S.K. Tamotia, Dr. D.S. Rao were felicitated for their significant contribution to the IIM Bhubaneswar chapter. Dr. R. Bhima Rao, former chief scientist, CSIR-IMMT and Dr. Satya Prakash Mohapatra, DGM, NRTC received IIM Bhubaneswar chapter award and Dr. S.K. Tamotia award, respectively. Dr. Pravas Ranjan Behera and Dr. KJ Sankaran has been elected as secretary and treasurer of the chapter.

Technical talk

A technical talk was jointly organized by IIM Bhubaneswar chapter, IIChE Bhubaneswar chapter, and IMMT on 5th April 2024 at CSIR-IMMT. The title of the talk was Luminescence from Silicon Nanostructures, delivered by Prof. Nil Ratan Bandyopadhyay, Former professor and head of Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur.

FAME 2023

Refresher course on Fundamentals and Advances in Mineral Engineering (FAME 2023), was organized jointly by IIM Bhubaneswar chapter and IMMT Bhubaneswar at CSIR-IMMT Bhubaneswar during 18 to 22 December 2023. 33 participants from various industries had taken the course. This training program was steered by the chairman Shri H.K. Tripathy, (Chairman, IIM Bhubaneswar chapter, chief scientist, CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar) and convenor Dr. Shivkumar Angadi (EC member of IIM Bhubaneswar chapter and Principal scientist, CSIR-IMMT).

IIM-ATM 2023

IIM Bhubaneswar chapter along with IIM Angul and IIM Sambalpur in association with Hindalco Industries had organized the flagship event IIM-ATM 2023 at KIIT Campus, Bhubaneswar during 22-24 November 2023. The Annual General Body Meeting (AGBM-2023) of IIM Bhubaneswar Chapter was held on 24th September 2023 at CSIR-IMMT Bhubaneswar. The chief guest Dr. Debasish Deb, Ex. ED, HAL Koraput had delivered at technical talk on "Technological Gaps in the manufacture of indigenous aeroengines for 5th/6th Generation Fighter Aircraft". Dr. M.S. Anwar and Dr. P.M. Mishra, CSIR-IMMT received IIM Bhubaneswar chapter award. Dr. N. Pradhan, CSIR-IMMT received Dr. R.P. Das Memorial award. Dr. Anil kumar Chaubey has been elected as Chairman of the chapter.

RAISE 2023

One-day National Conference on Recent Advancements in Iron and Steel industries and Emerging areas (RAISE-2023) jointly organized by IIM Bhubaneswar chapter and IMMT Bhubaneswar at CSIR-IMMT Bhubaneswar. This conference was steered by the chairman Shri H.K. Tripathy, (Chairman, IIM Bhubaneswar chapter, chief scientist, CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar) and convenor Dr. Pravas Ranjan Behera Principal scientist, CSIR-IMMT. In this occasion, chief guest Dr. Awanindra Kumar Singh, Sr Vice President, JSL and guest of honor Dr. Narayan Ch. Pal, Engineer-in-Chief (Design), PWD, Govt. of Odisha had highlighted importance of iron and steel industry in shaping of India's economy.

A joint webinar series on “Advances in Materials Science and Engineering (AMSE)-2022” seminar by IIM Bhubaneswar in association with INYAS Kolkata-Bhubaneswar chapter was conducted on 24th August 2022. The first lecture was delivered by Prof. Mallar Ray,Tec de Monterrey on "A jouney to the World of Amorphous Carbon Nanostrutures" and the second lecture was delivered by Mr. Nipun Sharma, PMRF scholar, IIT Jodhpur on "Functionalization of AlGaN/GaN HEMT for Heavy Metal Ion Sensing.
